HISTORY OF OUR SCHOOL
Shirley International Secondary School Owerri, was founded in the Year 2000 by Ambassador Mrs Shirley Anwulika Munonye with the vision of providing quality education and moral discipline to young people in Nigeria. The school started with a small number of students and staff but gradually grew through dedication, hardwork, and commitment to academic excellence. It’s located at Owerri, Imo State. The institution became known for its high educational standards, discipline, and student development. Over the years, Shirley International Secondary School expanded it’s facilities and introduced modern teaching methods to meet global educational standards . The school has consistently recorded success in academics, sports, and extracurricular activities, producing students who excel in various professions and contribute positively to society. Today the school remains committed to nurturing responsible, intelligent, and confident future leaders under the values of excellence, integrity, and discipline.
THE PROPRIETOR
Ambassador Mrs Shirley Munonye is the founder and proprietor of Shirley International Secondary School. A passionate educationist with degrees in Education and Educational Leadership, she founded the school in 2000 to provide quality, values-driven education that prepares students for global opportunities. Through her leadership and the Shirley Munonye Foundation, she remains committed to academic excellence, character building and empowering young learners to become confident, responsible future leaders
THE PRINCIPAL
Miss Jennifer Jidechi is the youngest principal in the history of Shirley International Secondary School. A former champion of creative arts and a vocal advocate for modern student welfare, she took over the role with a mission to bridge the gap between faculty and the student body. Her office door is famously always open, as she is often seen participating in student led debates or cheering from the sidelines of the football pitch. While some board members find her methods unconventional, her abvility to inspire loyalty and foster innovation has breathed new life into the school’s historic walls.
